Making Money Online Takes Effort By: Jane Snurtl
Making money online is really not as hard as people want to make it out to be. It all boils down to keyword research, content and back links. With proper SEO and enough time you can rank your site for whatever keywords you want.
Keyword research is at the core of making money online. Finding keywords that have low competition and decent cost per click advertising costs is the way to go. Targeting this low hanging fruit in your niche builds your overall authority for your subject allowing you to target more competitive terms over time.
Start with targeting keyword phrases that have less than ten thousand competing pages in the search engines and get over one thousand searches per month. I like to filter my keywords by average cost per click that advertisers are paying for the term.
I target terms that have at least 50 cent cpc. If nothing else I can get top rankings and throw ads on my site for cpc or affiliate products.
Content is the second stumbling block for most people. This is not rocket science. Write content based on the keywords you are targeting. Reach back to your high school English class, cover the who, what , why, where and when of the topic to get you started.
Go to the article directories and do a search for your keyword, read a few articles for ideas then write your own. Set up Google alerts for your keyword to get an idea of what people in the marketplace are talking about. Search yahoo answers for questions related to your niche and write about the answers.
Make sure you use your main keyword in your title. Once you get started writing sometimes things just keep flowing or you have other ideas of how to explain a subject from a different angle.
Back links are the fuel that runs the search engines. Each back links with your keywords used as the anchor text is a vote for your page for that keyword. One way links in the body of the content has more weight with the search engines than link exchanges, blog roll links and blog comments but all links are helpful.
That being said, a one way, in content link from an authority site in your niche using your keywords for the anchor text is the holy grail of links. A site with a few links from authority sites will outrank a site with hundreds of low quality links.
There are lots of ways to gain back links to your site. Article marketing, bookmarking, blog commenting, building feeder sites, the possibilities are endless, especially with the proliferation of free blog hosts and web 2.0 properties available. The search engines seem to love these sites and can really give your money site a boost with links from them.
Gather as many anchor text back links as you can and you'll be ranking high in the search engines and getting organic traffic for your keywords in no time.
Yes it takes effort and yes it takes time. Think of this though, if you can get a number one ranking on Google for any keyword phrase you want don't you think you can leverage that traffic to make money?
