International travel really does broaden your horizons and helps you enjoy the diversity of lifestyles around the globe. Providing you are willing to travel outside of the busy periods there aren't may places that out beyond most people's budgets.

Places like Spain, Italy, the South of France and Greece are good destinations as they have mild winters. If you want to save even more money you can look for villas, apartments or houses owned by private citizens who rent them out for shorter periods so you may be able to have a longer trip without a cost penalty.

Most properties on the continent have modern facilities so your laundry cooking and internet will still be available. There is nothing like having a breakfast when you are on vacation especially when you prepare it yourself and it gives you a chance to use fresh produce from a foreign country.

If you planned to send cards to all your friends then you can do it electronically which won't cost anything and all your laundry can be done without having to go elsewhere, once again, saving time which means you have more time to do things.

It's the little things you notice when you visit any foreign country and while most peoples daily lives are not much different to our own it is the small customs and idiosyncrasies are what make each country unique.

In America for example, meals can be rushed, even when they are not fast food driven whereas in Europe meals are a much more drawn out casual affair that can last many hours where friends and family gather and it is much safer walking around in the evening.

Why not head off the normal tourist routes an explore the local areas where you can find some wonderful shops, cafes and the local business where you be able to get a feel for how the local population run their everyday lives.

International travel exposes you to new cuisines and you may never taste an authentic Spanish Paella, French Pistou or Italian pizza unless you take the leap and immerse yourself in your travel destination of choice.

Making the most of where you are staying is an important part of being an international traveler so when you are in cities make use of their transport systems which are generally very efficient and cheap.

Traveling light has many advantages and if you can do this it will save a great deal of time and there is less likelihood of lost or damaged luggage if you only have a carry on. If you are considering this type of trip then you may want to reduce the amount of luggage you take and travel light using only a carry on which will certainly save a huge amount of time and there is less chance of anything going missing.

It just means that you have to carefully plan what you will need to take and what you can buy at your destination, like toiletries for instance, which means if you can't fit it into the carry on, you can buy it later. Travel does not have to be about huge luggage filled suitcases as truly adventurous travelers know.
