Sometimes you have to wonder how we ever existed without the credit card. Since I canceled my American Express credit card there's a huge range of goods and services I haven't been able to access. I found I couldn't join my local gym, order clothes over the internet or even reserve a plane ticket to New York, online, the basic stuff of life. It wasn't that long ago when cash spoke volumes, but not anymore.
It is a global phenomenon buying products or services with your American Express credit card without even caring whether or not we can afford them or even need them. Although American Express credit cards are a really convenient way to make a purchase - get it now and worry about it tomorrow - it does come at a heavy cost. Credit card debt is mounting everywhere. It is not a lie when I say the credit card debts are the biggest worry facing the people in America.
Canceling my American Express credit card was something I had to do as I much as I hated doing it. I found it too easy using my card and spending money that wasn't mine to spend. Mounting debts lead me to realize that I had been using my card for everything and anything including food! I was in a right state when I finally admitted that I couldn't pay the debt.
It took a debt consultancy specialist to finally get me back into a position where I actually started to pay my debt off. To say the situation had become a nightmare would be a gross understatement. There is a happy ending though because my debt is paid off and the American Express credit card has been destroyed. A lot of people would think that it is rash to blame it on my credit card, but I think that they do not understand something about human psychology.
If you pay for goods or services in cash, you actually see that money coming out of your pocket. Like I said before you are not as conscious of the cost when you use your credit card. I would just keep spending, not realizing until all the money was gone. So remember, if you don't have an American Express card, you don't have any worries.
