Save Money By Recycling Candles By: Carol Bell
A romantic rendezvous needs the right atmosphere, to create that perfect setting. What adds to a romantic atmosphere is when you add those little extras to enhance the feeling. Adults often appear to value candles, candlelight and flowers for providing that mood.
The diffused, sparkling orange light of the candle excites and instantly relaxes ones mood. One way that you can enhance the overall effect of these two things is to use the type of candles that have a fragrance and various colors that will appeal to the senses. They are exceptionally tempting but are very costly for regular use. One of the absolute best ways to get around this particular problem is to create some colorful, fragrant candles all on your own.
This can be done by placing some old candles in a vessel and then placing this vessel in a bigger vessel containing water and put this on a fire. Putting a container with the wax directly over a flame could just be dangerous. When old candles are not available, candles can be bought in bulk, lowering cost, compared to the exorbitant prices for candles in stores.
Aluminum moulds are the best even though they turn hot as you pour hot wax in them. You can also use old glasses for designs or disposable paper cups for a simple tumbler type of look.
A wick could be an old candle wick or one made from white cotton straw. You need to make the wick taut so it goes into the wax easily. Now, you will need to add the oil color desired into the melted wax and make absolutely sure that you add the color slowly and thoroughly mix so that you know when you should stop. Empty the melted wax in the mould and put the wick in the middle and make sure that it goes right down slowly.
If you wish to make candles with layers of different colors, then you must melt wax in different containers and add appropriate colors to each lot. Make sure that the mould you choose for a multicolored candle is tall which allows the layers to show but the manner in which you pour the different colors is important. Pour each color on top of another only if the layer below has cooled down. A horrible colored lump may form with all the colors mixed up if this is not taken care of.
Fragrant candles need oil-based fragrance added to the melted wax.
Fragrances are widely available, ranging from floral like rose and jasmine to lemon grass, tea tree and musk. Now all you do is to put those moulds in your freezer and you have candles that are colored and fragrant in the shape you want.
