Britain To Recover From Recession Soon? By: Tony_Dean
The difficulty with governments is the lack of idea's to make things happen. Depressed with the negative balance pf payments, spending on social services, and dealing with the fiscal 'black hole' left by the last Labour government, the present government are asking voters what to do next.
After all the 'doorstepping' that prospective candidates did during the run up to the general election, the voters told them they wanted change. The voters told them what changes they wanted to see, yet all we have seen so far is 'cuts'. to every service you can name, and no 'change' that voters wanted before the election.
Now a new forum has been set up for UK citizens to have a rant about politics in the UK, and several idea's on the forum have been emailed to the government and all m.p's. Feedback from m.p's has been positive and no adverse criticism has been received.
Just what are these idea's?
What forum can you see them on?
Rantonuk.org has all these idea's posted and many other comments are welcome to add to the mix.
One idea which could be proceeded with which would make for the biggest share float in British history, raising almost a trillion pounds.
The idea?
Float off the 12,000 post offices in the UK and not only that, but add 'icing on the cake', by giving all the work that the DVLA now do, i.e. issue driving licenses, vehicle registrations, as well as issue tax discs.
The current turnover is 5.5 billion pounds for the year 2009. The post office would not get to keep it, but would receive a commission on all transactions in the future. The DVLA in Swansea could be sold off and the proceeds put into the treasury, as would the money raised by the share float.
The government could roll back most of the 'cuts' it has made so far and the UK would be in the 'black' again far quicker than doing nothing, but make 'cuts'.
The next share float could be the Royal Mail, but would not fetch as much as the post office float because of the competition the Royal Mail now has from private parcel carriers eroding their profits. It would though, be a substantial share float in it's own right and would swell the coffers at the treasury.
This and more idea's are on rantonuk.org website and some more radical than the share float, but all would add to the mix to get the UK on track and the recession receding in to the past.
Governments must take idea's from all area's of the economy and quickly implement them. The last budget was a 'negative' budget with only 'cuts' - this is not what British voters voted for - they voted for changes for the better, not for the worse.
