Av Not For Us Says Rantonuk.org By: Tony__Dean
The old saying still holds good:- "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."
For hundreds of years our parliamentary system in the UK has served the people, with stability and confidence.
Now the minority party in the coalition wants to have a referendum on changing the voting system and the voters will go to the polls some time in May 2011.
It is for definite what the British people are going to say:- "No way!"
'Hung' parliaments are usually the result anywhere in the world where they have the system the Lib-Dems want to see in Britain. The British voter will soon tire of that with general elections called every 6 months to a year. The system is not for us and the Lib-Dems must be told quite firmly to stop trying to undermine the parliamentary system in Britain. It takes focus away from the problems facing Britain in a time of great recession. What the Lib-Dems should be doing is working with the Conservatives to fix the mess we are in. The voters at the last general election demanded change, and they should have it.
When prospective parliamentary candidates went 'doorstepping' their constituencies, they were clearly told what problems and changes they wanted to see.
One was an end to immigration altogether with residency, work and business visas revoked and immigrants sent packing. We have more than 4 million people unemployed in Britain, it is a statistic that 25% of jobs are currently in the hands of immigrants. This is intolerable and must be addressed. School-leavers are sent on 'training schemes' to keep them off the 'dole' statistics, pushing up the real unemployment rate to an intolerable level.
Meanwhile, foreign imports still flood into the country to the detriment of British manufacturers, many of whom have had to close their factories down, while the relentless flood of imports takes over our shops and stores.
The 'Three Tier Corporate Tax' system proposed by rantonuk.org would address this problem of imports. We would not have to change tariffs at our borders, to keep imports to a trickle. Within our sovereign borders we can do as much as we please without interference from other countries whilst we restructure our corporate taxation system to make the highest band of taxation punish the importers and the lowest band of taxation reward the dealers and retailers who sell only British made goods.
Those overseas manufacturers whether car or motorbike, or electronic goods, would find it advantageous to set up a factory in Britain - employing local British workers - to be able to sell their goods in Britain. (This proposed 'Three Tier Corporate Tax' system was recently emailed to all m.p's), and appears on rantonuk.org
A recent hint by the Minister for the Post Office to sell off the Royal Mail does not go far enough but would bring in a windfall to the treasury, but not as substantial a windfall as the proposal in the 'Discussion Document' recently sent to all m.p's and is available also on the forum.
The 'Discussion Document' proposes selling off the 12,000 post offices in the UK - but with an 'icing on the cake' to make it the biggest share float in British history. The 'icing on the cake' would be all the work that the DVLA now do - but at a user friendly post office - not a remote megalith out in the wilds of Wales.
Posting documents back and forth to the DVLA in Swansea is Dickensian in this electronic day and age, and cannot be said to be 'user friendly'.
A new server farm could be set up at the Ministry Of Transport to deal with all the work of the new privatised post office, equipped with cameras and lamination machines to supply drivers licenses over the counter, with all other vehicle registration done 'down the line' to the new servers.
When set up, the DVLA land and buildings could be sold off to the highest bidder and the money deposited into the treasury It's a win-win situation for all in Britain.
The people of Britain demand change - or another general election next year to elect another government which will serve the people in the manner they have expressed.
