One of the favorite city destinations in Western Europe noted for its romantic appeal is Paris,it sits on the banks of the river Seine and is also known as the City of Lights. Renowned for its modern art and breathtaking scenery a short stay in Paris is the ideal location for a romantic weekend break, for most visitors, this is just enough time to see what it has to offer.
It is renowned for its wonderful Gothic inspired buildings and street markets, plus sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other places that are havens for tourists, both home grown and international. Like most European cities, Paris is easy to get around, there is an excellent underground system called the Metro which runs regular trains into the city center and is very easy to understand.
It wouldn't be possible to visit this city without a trip to the top of the famous steel structure known as the Eiffel Tower,it provides stunning views from the top and is visible throughout most of the city. In the evening the illumination means it can be seen for many miles, taking a tour at the same time will teach you much more about this remarkable structure.
A trip down the Champs Elysees is encouraged when you visit Paris as this is the city's most famous street,if you want to see famous, designer label shops and the restaurants, this is the place. This is considered a more exclusive and busy area of the city, most of the five star hotels are located here but more affordable hotels can be found further out.
A trip to would not be complete without a visit to the Louvre museum,it houses over three hundred thousand exhibits but not all of them are ever on display at the same time. A short stay in Paris only ever allows a small appreciation of what is on offer, unfortunately it has so many visitors each year that some people are unable to see their favorite works. Many well known artists spent years of their lives in Paris, chances are that you will have the opportunity to see a number of famous paintings while you're visiting.
Another famous Paris attraction is The Arc de Triomphe which was built within the first decade of the nineteenth century, the names of his generals are engraved on its surface and another of those ‘must have' photo land marks. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed,it can be found in Charles de Gaulle Place at the intersection of twelve avenues including the Champs Elysees.
Of course this article can only give a small sample places to visit, but these should certainly not to be missed because many offer regular guided tours, some at little or no charge at all. It is fair to say that you won't see everything on a Paris short stay of two or even three day break,a longer break here will be necessary if you really want to experience everything this wonderful city has to offer.
