Smoking And Lung Cancer By: Kal Hajeer
Smoking is detrimental to your health and it is unlikely anyone, anywhere on the planet is unaware of this fact. Wherever you are I guarantee you won't be allowed to forget how bad smoking is for you. If you haven't taken any notice of these messages it's because you want to ignore them. As we all know, smoking leads to lung cancer, and it's not exclusively for those with poor genetics or smokers over the age of 65.
The belief s that you have to be a regular smoker to be affected but did you know that just one cigarette with coat your lungs for a month. I don't need to tell you what one pack could do. We're talking some serious damage here, so, if you're still on the fence about smoking, I think it's time for a few recent articles on lung cancer. I couldn't bear it knowing that all that research has been done and the information freely available and I chose to ignore it! Prevention is always better than cure and no-one can say that they weren't given enough information nowadays to help stop a condition that is preventable. There are some medical conditions that once highlighted the individual will take appropriate action but this isn't generally the case with smoking.
That attitude of ‘it won't happen to me' may be the case with the majority of smokers but sometimes when they get a real scare, that makes them quit! Often it's having a smoking related respiratory condition that makes them listen when all the articles on lung cancer didn't. To continue smoking, albeit through your neck because you've had throat cancer, has got to be the ultimate in stupidity for someone who is obviously in denial about how dangerous it is. I know some people find it harder to quit smoking than others but at what point would this person stop.
I have seen cigarette packets that say ‘smoking kills', how much more evidence do you need when it is put on the packet itself by the manufacturers! Any articles on lung cancer, asthma and Bronchitis can inform you of this. Then there is what they call passive smoking or inhaling the smoke from other people's cigarettes. With new laws taking effect in the western world, lighting up is going to get harder so why not quit before you are forced to through ill health.
