It is important to know how to pass a drug test if you work for an employer that does random drug testing. Of course, if you don't use drugs, you don't need to worry about it. False positives are very rare. If you are aware ahead of time that you will be tested on a certain date, the easiest way to pass is to avoid using drugs for a period of time prior to the testing.

The amount of time it takes before traces of the drug will not show up on a drug test depends on the type of drug taken and the type of test that is being used. For a saliva test, marijuana and hashish can be detected for up to 24 hours. Most other drugs can be detected for 2-3 days. A hair test can reveal the use of most drugs for up to 90 days. A blood test can show drug use for up to seven days.

Urine tests are by far the most frequently used, and some drugs can show up for weeks. The drugs that can be detected for more than a week are: cannabis, Phenobarbital, PCP and benzodiazepines. Most of these drugs only show up that far back if they were used heavily. When used occasionally, cannabis can usually only be detected for seven days. Methamphetamine shows up for five days, codeine for three days, Ecstasy for 24 hours and cocaine for five days.

There are places online where you can get powdered synthetic urine to pass off as your own during a urine test. Pulling a switcheroo during the testing can be tricky but it can be done. You will need a special bottle to keep your phony urine in that ensures your sample is kept at the correct temperature to pass as real urine.

Your employer cannot legally watch you give a urine sample, which makes it easier to switch them. However, you can be made to wear a hospital gown into the testing room. If you tape or strap the bottle of fake urine to your body, you may still be able to pull of the switch. Bring an empty container with you to urinate into so that it will sound like you are peeing into the test container.

Don't bother purchasing toxin removal products for a hair test if you are a cocaine user with dark hair. It won't work. However, these products may help reduce the amount of toxin detectable for others. If all else fails, you could shave all of your hair to less than 1/2 inch in length. However, this would only work if you shaved your underarms, chest and legs as well.

When taking a saliva test, you are asked to rub a pad against your gums and then place it between your cheek and gums for two minutes. You do not want this to touch your gums or cheek. Make it appear that you have put the pad in the right place but be sure to touch it to your teeth instead.

Forgetting your ID can get your test moved to another date or time and buy you a little bit of time but doing it more than once would be suspicious. All of these techniques can be used to successfully foil an employer drug screening if the need arises.

If you use drugs even on occasion and your employer does drug screening, you should make sure you know how to pass a drug test specifically saliva drug test. The best way, of course, is to avoid using drugs.
