Is Your Dog Insured? By: je Dunn
A dog is more than just a pet; they are a companion whether you are sitting quietly by the fire at home or going for a walk, they are their keeping you company.
A dog will get just as much enjoyment from lying on the floor near you if you haven't the energy for a walk, never complaining. They will never complain that you haven't the energy for that walk you promised them the day before, or the bath they so desperately need.
Other than love, there are few ways we can really show our appreciation for the love and companionship a dog provides except by keeping them in first class health which can be done with a dog insurance plan.
Pet insurance providers know how important pets are to people and can arrange a large number of health plans that can cover almost every type of situation. These types of dog insurance policies bring a peace of mind with them as keeping your dog healthy is the main concern but if they do have an accident or become sick, vet bills are taken care of without any thought required by the owner.
Technology can be it's own downfall sometimes and as medical treatment for pets improves, so does the cost and many treatments that are available now, which weren't a few years ago, are very expensive.
Dogs and other pets are now able to benefit for transplant surgery and for certain pets, they can even replace hips which even now is hard to believe. Some dog conditions are genetic like heart enlargement, epilepsy and even hip dysplasia.
The unfortunate fact is that many conditions that dogs are prone to suffer from are only visible when the dog reaches a certain point in their life by which time they are a valued family member. Looking after your dog's health should never be a matter of financial concern which almost guaranteed if a dog insurance plan is taken out.
Even on a regular basis a dog requires close attention to his health in terms of the best foods, nutrients and hygiene; regular check ups can include expensive vaccinations, maintenance procedures such as ear and teeth cleaning, de-worming, getting rid of unwanted mites and ticks and even minor infections.
Most policies will cover these costs as part of the maintenance plan which should make the situation easier financially speaking and the peace of mind knowing that your companion is looked after.
If you love your dog and want them around for as long as possible, this is the way to ensure it will happen. If you are not sure where to start in your search for a good plan then ask some of your neighbors who have dogs and see if they can advise you on a dog insurance plan that will cover everything discussed here.
