Angling is a wonderful sport and if you are new to this, do take the time to learn some rules. This is a form of activity where everything you do will have a direct impact on the people around you so be respectful. Modern day equipments may change but the same rules and regulations do apply to fishing as they did in the past. Technology may have improved the chance of catching more fish but many of the traditional rules still apply. Look after the waterways, they are essential to ensure the environment will be preserved for enjoyment by the future generation. Leave the areas that are already badly damaged by angling. As much as you have been blessed by nature's gift through the abundance of natural resources available, makes it a point to do whatever you can to preserve the lakes, waterways and rivers for the generations to come. You don't have to spend a million dollars to do it, just practice good angling habits.

Do not leave any trash behind when your fishing day has come to an end, always carry a bag to place it in. Get rid of them in dumping stations. It doesn't take a genius to figure out how this little act can go a long way in preserving the environment.

As you fish, always use the correct type of bait and fishing gear, remembering that particular areas only allow certain bait and gear. Beware and find out the type and number of fish you can keep. It would be useless to check once you arrive, your equipments may not be suitable to fish in that area after all. Check with your destination before you head out on your trip to see what the local regulations allow. There are rules regarding the kind of watercraft you can use, do check them.

Do you know why some places are illegal to fish? Perhaps they are just protecting the wildlife or maybe there is hidden danger you don't want to find out! Safety is the number one priority in any form of hunting excursions, so wear your life jacket, making sure that your passengers in your boat wear their life jackets, as well.

Be very careful when baiting and removing hooks. Do not make the stupid mistake of fishing in unauthorized waterways. Bring along maps, flashlight, and cell phone for emergency cases but also make sure you have adequate water.

Fishing can be a fun and relaxing hobby which has become a favorite past time of many Americans, Canadians and the people in the UK. By observing all the rules, you can ensure that fishing as an activity, pastime or sport will be a part of your grand children's heritage. Strive to find ways to become better angler while taking care of the environment as well.
